Why Become a Cadet?
Being a cadet offers a unique and fulfilling volunteer opportunity where you'll receive hands-on training alongside professionals from the Frederick County Fire Service and experienced volunteers. As a committed cadet, you'll enjoy various benefits, including:
Service-Learning Hours: Earn valuable service-learning hours by actively participating in training courses, standbys, and collateral duties.
College Tuition Opportunities: Your dedicated involvement as a cadet can make you eligible for college tuition scholarships and reimbursement.
What Cadets Do:
Monthly Meetings: Attend monthly meetings involving drills and scenarios to enhance your skills and knowledge.
Company Training: Participate in company training and contribute to fundraising efforts vital for our volunteer organization.
Advanced Training Opportunities (Ages 16-18):
For those aged 16-18, the cadet program offers the chance to pursue more in-depth Fire/Rescue or EMT training. Available classes include:
- Emergency Medical Technician - Basic
- Firefighter I & II
- Hazardous Materials Operations
- Rescue Technician

Requirements:
Parental permission is necessary for cadet membership, and certain conditions apply during the school session, including curfews and maintaining a specific grade point average. Strongly encouraged letters of recommendation can strengthen your application.
